Attracting Streetfront Retail
Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 has long been committed to attracting streetfront retail that serves residents, employees, and visitors with a diverse mix of goods and services. In 2025, the organization completed Phase 1 of a retail recruitment strategy, which included a comprehensive inventory of existing spaces, an analysis of retail categories, and the identification of key gaps in the current mix.
Building on this foundation, Milwaukee Downtown aims to advance these efforts by forming a coalition of retail brokers, stakeholders, and public-sector partners to develop a coordinated storefront activation and recruitment strategy.
