In August 2020, Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, in partnership with the City of Milwaukee and surrounding properties, broke ground on new improvements at Postman Square. What started with simple bistro tables, new sod, and plantings grew into a neighborhood amenity for the hundreds of residents living around the square.

The central green space features dog-friendly PetTurf, a common application used in urban dog parks, a brick patio, and year-round seating. Additional improvements included new uplighting on the sculpture. In 2019, Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, and surrounding properties reinvested in the square and offered free programming for neighborhood residents, including Postman’s Porch Unplugged.
