You Are Beautiful

You Are Beautiful, Milwaukee

Global Art Project Installed at 834 N. Plankinton Avenue

In 2002, Chicago-based artist Matthew Hoffman set out to make people feel better by distributing 100 stickers featuring a simple, yet universal affirmation, "You Are Beautiful." The project ultimately grew into a global street art project with stickers popping up in the most unexpected places. Today, over 3 million stickers have been printed and distributed across the world. And now, Milwaukee is home to one of the largest public art installations featuring "You Are Beautiful."

Students from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee joined Hoffman to install the mural on a plywood wall at a future development site during Westown's inaugural Team Up to Clean Up Event on April 17, 2021. The mural was funded in part by New Land Enterprises.
