Downtown Master Plan Update

The City of Milwaukee Department of City Development has begun the process to update the downtown master plan. All of the planning work is expected to be complete by 2010.

2007 Downtown Milwaukee Market Analysis

Downtown development and redeveloment is a continuous process involving a large number of potential stakeholders. Successful revitalization efforts require meeting the economic restructuring needs and interests of business operators, property owners, residents, elected officials and economic development organizations. To meet the needs of these different stakeholders, the Downtown Milwaukee Market Analysis is designed to:

  • Create a clearinghouse of market data on downtown Milwaukee.
  • Develop the capacity of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 to update and enhance market research on an ongoing basis.
  • Complement existing downtown marketing and redevelopment activities.
  • Explore specific business opportunities for downtown Milwaukee.
  • Examine downtown Milwaukee's position in the regional economy.
  • Assess the physical layout of downtown Milwaukee and its corresponding impact on future development opportunities.

2005 White Paper Research - Status of the Downtown Milwaukee Brand in Southeastern Wisconsin

Since 1999, Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 has conducted a bi-annual telephone survey to residents throughout Kenosha, Racine, Ozaukee,  Washington, Waukesha and Milwaukee counties to gauge perceptions on the downtown Milwaukee brand.
