Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 is an organization established to support the interests of the downtown Milwaukee business community. Created in 1998 through private sector leadership, Milwaukee Downtown is a business improvement district that oversees 120 blocks representing approximately 400 property owners in the center of downtown Milwaukee.

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined geographic area where property owners agree to assess themselves annually to fund specific programs and projects. Through BID #21 assessments, Milwaukee Downtown funds specific initiatives aimed at creating a clean, safe and friendly downtown.

BID #21 represents one square mile, the boundaries of Milwaukee Downtown are 10^th Street on the west, Lake Michigan on the east, Schlitz Park on the north and St. Paul Avenue on the south.

The mission of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 is to assure a clean and friendly environment and promote downtown Milwaukee as the gathering place to live, learn, work, eat and play.

To be the leading force in creating a dynamic atmosphere in which to live, work, play and visit 24 hours a day, everyday.

Goals

1. Market and promote downtown Milwaukee as a clean, safe and friendly destination.
2. Position the downtown Milwaukee management district to provide leadership for collaborative efforts to significantly improve the quality of life.
3. Provide a positive, productive and nurturing environment that will attract new business and retain existing business downtown.
4. Promote physical changes to make downtown a more comfortable and exciting place.
